@Anke@ryusei probably been around a good 40 years or more, before digital era ISTR Germans made many well engineered remote controlled slide projectors (Diaprojketor), but slide carriers themselves could be a few mm out of dimension /warped by heat of projection lamps (especially if the slides were stored in varying temperatures), causing the slide in the magazine to jam in the gate during the changeover process (so either only a strong white light or total blank screen would be seen
