So what do you use your / / for? What does it look like? Do you keep more than one planner for different projects or areas of your life? Do you plan exclusively on paper or do you also use digital resources?

@Heliodora I just started a #bulletjournal, and figuring out how to divide work and home tasks was the first thing I dealt with. I also am not using it as a calendar, since I already thoroughly use Google calendar for that.

I use a Cousin (A5), because it has monthly and weekly spreads on two pages, and one page per day, all in one notebook.

My monthly spreads work as my Future Log. The weeklies are where I actually organize my tasks, and the daily pages are for journaling and meal tracking.

My goal is to use it as my everything planner and as a log of my days. So far it's worked okay, but I might have to stop journaling in order to take task/project-related notes.

I also use to help me keep track of bigger projects. And though I used to rely on Google Calendar a lot, I've mostly dropped it,

Likewise, I've dropped (though it worked wonderfully for a couple years).

@Heliodora

I started putting my work tasks in the same as my writing/IRL tasks, and it’s helped a lot.

I have a weekly spread (6 lines/day), a monthly spread, and a pain tracker.

@aldersprig @likecroft @lemurchild

I'm on Lyn's team, keeping everything together helps me grasp what I have to do and how much time/energy/resources I have to spend

@Heliodora @aldersprig @likecroft I’ve divided it like this, work on the left and home on the right. It’s just my first week, though!

@aldersprig All of my favorite things! :-) And both coffee and tea. I *heart* hot caffeinated beverages.

@lemurchild Kitties and coffee and tea are some of my favorite things too!

@Heliodora We have a ticket system at work, so I use my for non-work stuff only. I use the future log and monthly spreads to keep track of events and appointments.
The daily log I use for chores and similar to-dos, log or creative stuff, and also for notes on headaches and other health stuff.

@Heliodora I use collections to write down ideas, stuff I want to refer back to (last one of that kind is how to do a certainthing in git, but there also are recipes, series/movie viewing orders...).
Also doodles. I use a dotted journal (comparatively expensive, but I fell in love with it), so if I draw something I really like I can ink it and clean in up afterwards.

@Heliodora I have considered starting themed journals for things I want to refer back to, particularly one for recipes, so I don't have to either remember which recipe is where, or else copy my favourite recipes in each new journal, but I haven't done so yet.
I have some recipes in Evernote, but I don't use that much.

@Anke @Heliodora do you have a recipe box, too? journal might be good for noting stuff during your day, but if you get like an index card holder and a bunch of cards they make a good way to keep individual recipes in one place

@katrani @Anke this is a good idea! Also ring binders or disc bound notebooks could work very well for recipes

@Heliodora @katrani I usually copy the ingredients onto a scrap of paper anyway, since I don't want to get a book or filecard-to-keep dirty.
Recipes on cards, I'd want to laminate the cards...

@Anke @Heliodora oh! my boyfriend's aunt has like. those paper slip-cover things? and they keep the recipes printed out, and whichever one they're using they put in the slipcover and tack up on the cabinet near their kitchen sink while they're cooking.

@Heliodora Oh, and I do use Habitica, mostly for things I want to do each and every (week)day, like eating breakfast before leaving, taking my meds, or doing *something* creative.

@Anke Yeah, I'm switching to basic printable trackers for those. I'm trying to keep everything in one place, and Habitica was making me sad >.<

@Heliodora hmm. I tried tracking dailies in my bulletjournal, but didn't really warm up to it. Would maybe work better if I dropped Habitica, but I'm hooked on collecting pets <_<

@Anke yeah, pets and quests stopped working for me at least 18 months ago, tbh. ._. Which in large part is why the game just makes me sad now

@Anke @Heliodora I have to put the habit tracker on my weekly page or o ignore it...

@Anke I wanted a dot grid SO BAD but I would've needed 3-4 notebooks per year and that was just frankly out of my budget. ;_;

But gosh, they're wonderful, aren't they??

@Heliodora Perfect balance between giving you guidelines and not visually cluttering up the pages. :D

@Heliodora I'm forgetful af. I have a calender in it with my appointments, tasks and I even have a page called Stuff I need to do some time.
I track the books I've read. I have a page for creative projects so when I have time and don't know what to do I can look there. I make notes about the baby. All kinds of stuff that I find useful :)

@Heliodora I have a habit tracker in my journal + I write down at least 3 good things about each day. Gcal is my source of truth for scheduling (it auto-imports both my work outlook & all the fb events I say maybe to), but it gets cluttered. I've started doing a simple monthly spread that helps me think through what I have going on, so that I can set aside time for hobby projects and schedule an irregular event I host.

Work is separate (cont.)

@Heliodora my work projects are planned in Jira. Usually I keep a running to-do list on a scrap paper pad that I recopy when it fills up. Physically discarding the list on a regular basis is important, it keeps me from getting mired in guilt/shame about the stuff I don't get done.

Right now I'm on 2 Jira projects so I'm ramping up my paper system to coordinate. Which leads to scrap paper weekly spreads - if I can't get off the 2nd project soon it'll be time for a work bujo.

@Heliodora the ability plan my time and then *actually work on what I planned at the time I planned for it* is new to me - I only got my #ADHD diagnosed & medicated a couple years ago. Planning on a weekly level makes magical sense now in a way it didn't before, but I'm still figuring out how to actually do it. And I'm still learning what my new limits are, like, I can plan whatever I want for 4pm but it won't happen, Ritalin can't actually defeat my circadian rhythm in a fight.

@Heliodora i've been keeping up with using my Hobonichi as a diary/weekly planner pretty well! sticking to it is hard, but it's so nice to have it there, and I'm proud of myself for not forgetting about it after like a month.

@Heliodora
I've been using this arrangement for my weeks the last month or so. Big Idea goals/steps and a spot for notes at the top (kitty stickers for privacy), with a mini calendar and also trackers for my books and meditation.

Below that, first, where I need to go for each day (kid activities, meetings, etc - I'm a SAHM), then tasks/housework for each day. I haven't actually filled those out yet this week though. πŸ˜…

@Heliodora
Then I do daily journaling and note taking on the following two pages.

I make a large monthly calendar each month, too, and refer to it each week.

@Heliodora I use my #bujo/ #bulletjournal for keeping up with keeping on top of what's going on at work, and to hold my head together. I use the future log and index up front, and then just use daily logs... I write in what appointments I expect during the day, and leave room for notes, I'll jump to a new page if warranted, but usually a daily log is enough. If a particularly hair week is coming up, or presents itself, I will do a weekly. Or for conference travel I'll devote a page to that.

@Heliodora I use my #bujo as a planning and analysis device. I use digital tools (the Things app and Fantastical) as capture devices when I'm away from my notebook and for keeping track of recurring tasks.

But decisions about what is actually going to get done are made with my bujo.

And now I also have a separate (paper) fitness journal because I got an injury recently and it would have been nice to have been keeping track of things. So now I am.

@intherain oh nice :D I really like using digital devices to keep track of longer/complex projects, but yeah, the actual to-do lists go on my bujo and nowhere else :)
