In movies, he’d be walking away with the city lit up behind him, flames everywhere. Instead, if he turned around, the city looked a bit crumpled; he could see a couple small fires.

The horizon wasn’t poetically on fire, either, although it might be just as much of a disaster ahead as it was behind.

That was okay.

There was nothing behind Nathen for him to miss anymore.

Ahead of him, at the very least, there was possibility. He faced the non-burning horizon and kept walking.
